SECONDS
What is a second?
A second is a piece that may have some flaws, but is still considered functional and can have a long life.
What kind of flaws?
Flaws such as a small (sanded) chip in the foot, glaze irregularities (too thick, too thin, uneven.) Glazes might have pinholes or crazing, which is a tiny translucent crackling that stains over time. Warping is also something that can make something a second.
Every craft person’s judgement on how they determine what a second is, is different.
Seconds are good for people who:
-know they are clumsy, but want a handmade item anyway!
-like to have a lot of different types of tablewares
-are strictly thrifty
-anthropomorphize quite a bit, and don’t like thinking about these things getting the hammer!
-are buying gifts for people who fit into any of the descriptions above
Please note:
I can’t take pictures of each individual flaw.
The discounts reflect the flaw and the fact that you’re getting a slight mystery.
If you have any specific questions, please feel free to email me, but as per usual, when in doubt, don’t buy it :)
CARE & GENERAL INFO
Immediate Care For Your New Ceramics:
Please inspect and wash your pieces before you use them.
Prolonging The Life Of Your Dinnerware:
Hand-washing is highly recommended.
Microwaving any handmade ceramics is not recommended as we don’t know how it affects the pieces.
Please note the true matte glazes (eg. blue, speckled egg) may stain from highly pigmented food like beets.
These ceramic pieces are not cookware, so please no cooking or baking in them.
